About Us
Picante was established in 2007 by Lisa Bray who had the idea for the business after returning from holiday in Spain to questions from family and friends regarding where she got her shoes and handbags. The business idea was born. Lisa started importing shoes and handbags initially on a small scale and began hosting parties in the evening both in her own home and as well as those of others. The name Picante means 'hot and spicy' in Spanish - a name chosen by Lisa's husband!
Shoes and handbags were not Lisa's main job, she is a qualified Accountant within a local practice - Fife Accounts. This made it difficult for Lisa to give the business the time and effort it deserved as it was more of a hobby. In August 2008 Lisa's colleague within Fife Accounts - Christine Convy - suggested they take Picante from a hobby to a fully fledged business in its own right. The premises next to Fife Accounts in Newark Road South were vacant and within 3 months Picante opened its doors at number H4.
Picante is open throughout the week for customers to shop and browse and our team will always offer you a tea or coffee when you come in. Picante has continued trading via its famous parties, now held in the shop. The unit has a large lounge area for people to relax and chat and during parties free bubbly and canapes are always served - see our
Picante Party page for further information.
